From 40+ year-old vines in an outstanding site located just above the village and based on Crinoidal limestone, rich in fossilised starfish and sea urchins and the same geology as that which underlies the Gevrey-Chambertin Grand Crus of Charmes, Latricières, Griottes and Chapelle, as well as the entire hillside of the 1er Crus Clos Saint-Jacques and Lavaux Saint-Jacques.
The 2015 Marsannay Le Clos de Jeu is also showing well, revealing lovely notes of ripe cherries, cassis, red plums and candied peel, with hints of dark chocolate emerging as the wine sits in the glass. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, fleshy but incisive, with fine but youthfully chewy tannins, excellent concentration and a bright, lively finish. It's one of the highlights of Collotte's excellent 2015 Marsannay collection. Drink 2018-2030.
