History and tradition: It seems that the site of Pommard is one of the oldest winemaking activities of the Coast. Installed in this place for more than 2000 years, the Gaulois would have selected and multiplied the pinot noir. A temple dedicated to the goddess Pomone would be at the origin of the name of the village.

Soil: composed of clay and silt, well balanced agronomically and easy to work. This terroir is quite draining and allows to produce fruity, complex and long wines in the mouth.

Cellaring potential: 10-15 years Vine planting: 1964 & 1999 Surface: 0.6608 ha Maturation: 14 months Whole cluster rate: 50% New oak barrels rate: 20 to 40%

66 ha monopole vinified with 50% whole clusters

A ripe yet nicely cool nose reflects a blend of both red and dark berries along with pungent earth wisps. The supple and relatively forward middle weight flavours are delicious while displaying reasonably good intensity on the balanced finale that offers excellent length. This is finer than the Pommard villages with a bit more development potential as well.
