Vying for top spot as the finest The Paringa to date, it manages to harness overall power through a prism of elegance. Awash with black ripe plums and satsuma, too. Incredibly spicy, with pepper and cardamom in the mix, the oak merely playing backup. Full bodied, with precision tannins, some grainy texture and great persistence. Wow.

The most noteworthy aspect of this wine is the finish, which fans out both beautifully and impressively. There’s no question of this wine’s quality. Poached cherry and strawberry flavours meet woodsy herb, cedar and woodsmoke, though garden herb and fresher berried fruit flavours are also part of the mix. It’s textural, it’s long, it’s balance and it’s delicious.
