The 2005 Brut Cuvée Annonciade is another gorgeous wine in this range from Bara. For the Annonciade, the estate takes a selection of their best fruit and vinifies it in oak. Warm, toasty notes from the wood complement the natural richness of the Pinot fruit. But more than that, I am impressed with the wine's freshness and impeccable balance, something that is so hard to find in 2005. Red plum, spice, dried flowers and baked apple tart scents leave the final impressions. The 2005 is fabulous, especially within the context of the year.
100% Pinot Noir. In 1833, Annonciade, the daughter of a winemaker from Bouzy, married Auguste François Bara, a young cooper from the neighbouring village. Their son, Jules Bara, had the first Paul Bara champagne cellar built. This barrel-fermented champagne is a tribute to our Bara heritage.
