Deep, dark red/purple colour, the bouquet smoky-charry, ironstone and tar, bright and fresh and intense. The wine is full-bodied and very powerful, tightly-focused and penetrating on the palate, with terrific length and a fine complement of balanced, supple but drying tannins. Traces of cherry eau-de-vie. Sumptuous flavour and abundant tannins, lingering long on the after-palate. A smashing red wine. (From four vineyards at High Eden/Craneford, Greenock, and Kalimna/Ebenezer)
95/100, Huon Hooke The Real Review, 09 JUN 2021, Drink 2021–2036
From four of Tim Smith Wines' favourite vineyards in the Eden and Barossa valleys. Deep crimson-purple; a constellation of sombre black fruits, spice, pepper and licorice opening up layer-upon-layer as the wine is retasted, yet the tannins and oak are neatly controlled. You could drink more than a glass of this.
