2019 Quartz Reef Bendigo Estate Single Ferment Pinot Noir, Central Otago

Single Ferment is the wine that best expresses both site and season. Richer and more intense than the regular pinot noir, with a complex mix of dark cherry, berry, floral and savoury flavours. The wine will obviously develop well with bottle age but is still quite accessible. 28 JAN 2021 Drink 2021–2033

Pronounced, lifted, confected, bouquet with heady notes of violets, and pure ethereal, dark fruit, redolent of cold-soak pre-fermentation. A juicy, soft, rounded, textural wine with plenty of flesh on its bones, flavours of black cherry, and fine, gentle, spicy tannins. An engaging wine that is sure to have wide appeal.

From a very wet season that was slightly hotter than normal. Richer and more intense than the regular pinot noir, with a complex mix of dark cherry/berry, floral and savoury flavours. Delicious now but with a promising future.

Inviting aromas of well-ripened strawberries, pitted red cherries, thyme and porcini. Saline and steel mineral notes color the medium- to full-bodied palate with fresh blue and red berries and herbs at its core. Soft tannins. There is depth and concentration here but it comes across as subtle and even keeled. Lots of character here. Complex. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold. Screw cap.
