Medium ruby hue;  Lifted, almost joyful aromas of strawberry jam, cherries and musk sticks, combined with poplar sap, cloves, mocha, earth and mushroom and light oak background.

The bright fruit note theme continues with strawberry-like red fruits, plus plums, cherries and rhubarb filling the full length of the palate.  There is medium body, so the mouthfeel is generous and then the finish is a balanced combination of toasty oak and tannin.

This wine has a decades-long history of graceful long ageing, so one presumes this '19 will be no different. It has poise, fruit clarity and length. Redcurrants, black cherries, Pink Lady apples, pink peppercorns, jasmine tea tannins and fine, salty acidity. The flavour endures long after the wine has gone. Supple, spicy and layered with red fruits, this is a gorgeous pinot of shape and line.

"Ripe strawberry, cedar, mushroom, lemon zest and spice. Medium-bodied, ripe strawberry and earthy things, with some tang and vigour, a little red fruit and honey, but also has something of an orange peel/amaro twist. Finish is all red fruits and orange rind, and some quiet perfume. Length is pretty good. A very different expression of Pinot Noir, though I like it a lot. It should age very well. Hello!"

"Great to see Moss Wood Pinot Noir in such fine form in 2019 with the cooler vintage clearly working in its favour to produce a standout vintage and potentially a new high water mark for this label – only time will tell. A lightish Pinot colour, not such a bad thing, is followed by a strongly varietal array of aromatic fruits, from cranberry and raspberry through to stalky herbs too. There is also hints of tobacco which I often find in Moss Wood’s Pinots. The palate is then fleshy, supple and giving with more dark cherry and earthy spices before a long and supremely silky finish. Probably not the longest lived of Moss Woods’s Pinots but it certainly offers plenty to enjoy over the next five years."
