A crisp, racy and refreshing style with a fair dash of citrus, honeydew and powdered ginger. It’s led by acidity but directed by some neat phenolics – not too much, just enough to bolster the palate. Good drinking right now.

Named after the Pobblebonk frogs that clearly love life in Quealy’s vineyards and wetlands, this is a great introduction to Quealy’s Friuli-inspired blends. From the organically certified, dry-grown winery vineyard at Balnarring and from the excellent 2021 vintage, Chardonnay (9%) and Pinot Grigio (24%) were picked on March 4th and were barrel fermented in older puncheons with full solids; while the Riesling (24%) was picked two weeks later; and the Friulano (43%) anchored on the 7th of April. The juices were then blended to finish their ferments together.
The result is predictably delicious, with bright stone fruits, white florals and a charming doughy aroma on the nose. Fresh, ripe apple and citrus flavours align with vibrant acidity to carry lovely weight, grippy phenolics and a saline splash to a long, powerful and snappy close. Packed with character and perfect for the dining table.
