2020 Chard Farm Mata-Au Pinot Noir, Central Otago

Mata-Au (the Maori name for the Clutha River) is a blend of fruit from Chard Farm’s four estate vineyards. New oak has been reduced to just 20% to boost flavour purity. Elegant Pinot Noir with appealing purity and subtle power.

The Viper Vineyard 26% – Parkburn, Cromwell
The Mason Vineyard 40% – Parkburn, Cromwell

The bouquet becomes increasingly attractive as it shifts through ripe red berries, sweet floral tones, darker spicey notes and herby complexity. The fresh red fruits, spice, and later wild herb flavours hold a wonderfully harmonious shape and texture, nicely supported with fine persistent tannins and calm acidity.
