The Kinnear was the ship that sailed Johann Stein to Australia and is their flagship wine. Comprised of 70/30% whole berries/bunches. Fittingly foot stomped as the wine represents the hardship and resilience of the past. Powdery damson plums, blackberries and mulberry leaf are followed by black olive tapenade, baked cherry tart (the filling bubbling over the sides) and soft licorice. A muscular tannin frame holds the wine upright. Black potting soil and turned damp earth are the final thoughts. A celebration of Mudgee, shiraz and all human imprint of the Stein legacy. Sensational.
The Kinnear was the ship which brought Johann Stein to Australia on 23rd April, 1838, so it is appropriate that this be the name of our flagship wine. The Kinnear is an icon of the family, a symbol of the great hardship and struggle of the past, and a celebration of our lives today.
