A single-vineyard blend of 63/21/16% chardonnay/pinot noir/pinot meunier. Andrew Pirie has crafted a wonderful sparkling wine that’s expansive, yet displaying tension and vitality. Notes of baked apple, fresh brioche, white flowers and stone with wafts of redcurrant, soft spice, almond paste and biscuity notes. There's a swell of dosage on the finish along with autolysis notes. The philosophy at Apogee is simple; produce single vineyard wines from the best small holdings of no more than 2Ha., using Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Gris that Pirie has personally selected to make the finest sparkling wines available from Tasmania.
The main production is a classically blended, traditional-method sparkling comprising around 35 % of pinot noir and 40% chardonnay and the balance from Pinot Meunier.
