Beaujolais-Villages takes its name from the 38 wine-making villages in the Beaujolais production area. This delicious red wine marks a sort of transition between "plain" Beaujolais with a spontaneous character and the ten prestigious "crus" further north. More than any other, it is a wine that is enjoyed in happy homes.
This 19th century castle is located in the heart of the Juliénas Appellation on the place called “Capitans”. Centennial cedars in the large one-hectare park bear witness to a great historical past.
The vineyard in one piece surrounds the Estate and benefits from an excellent terroir. The South / South-East exposure allows the harvest to benefit from a very good exposure and thus to reach perfect maturity. In popular tradition, this so-called place retains traces of a Roman past. Considered a strategic point, this location would have been the seat of a staff, hence the name “Capitan” which would refer to this function of captaincy.
In the 1940s, the castle belonged to Mr. Victor PEYRET who left behind him, among other things, the Victor PEYRET Prize. Each year, this prize rewards a personality who contributes to the promotion of the vineyard.
