Shiraz and mataro from the Riversdale vineyard in Frankland River. The nose here has everything you could both want and expect from a blend of these 2 varieties: the shiraz brings the blackberries, the licorice and the spice, while the mataro is responsible for the purple berries, earth and cocoa dust. In the mouth the wine is dense and concentrated, shaped by velvet tannins and populated by explosive fruit power. There is deli meat, with salted plums alongside. The inimitable Frankland River DNA of red earth, ferrous ironstone and blood is laced through the finish... A very (very) smart wine.

A bouquet of spices, crushed herbs, red berries and spicy oak. The palate has youthful and intense flavours of savoury plum and cherry and earthy tannins.
