2019 Schwarz Wine Co Schiller Shiraz, Barossa Valley

Sourced from a patch of 400 vines, planted in 1881 in Hallett Valley, wild-yeast fermented, matured in French oak (50% new). Aromas of deep spice notes sheathing super-ripe blackberry, black cherry and plum fruits along with hints of licorice, dark chocolate, espresso and vanillin oak. Rich and mouth filling, with impressive fruit weight and purity. Gorgeous tannins fade back into the fruit, providing ample support and a finish that lingers admirably. A very impressive, textural wine that shows grace and power in equal measure.

Dark, deep and densely youthful in appearance. Dark fruit aromas, dark cherry, plum, violets, plum pudding and sweet spices. Powerful, dark-fruited and layered on the palate. Blood plum, liqueur chocolate, mulberry, black cherry and anise. The tannins are firm, structured and savoury and the acidity cuts through the plush fruit nicely. Made from a mere 400 vines, planted in 1881. It's a hearty, deep-set, seductive wine with freshness kept paramount. It slinks along the tongue in satiny fashion, runs with the flavours of redcurrant, blackberry, coal and caramel, and trails impressively out through an extended finish. Barossa shiraz in all its glory. Straps of flavour-drenched tannin will help ensure a very long future.
