Pure deep crimson purple. Like the Champans, the nose here is also restrained though obviously with density to follow, when it is ready. The fruit swells across the palate, almost lush in the middle, some tannins too, firm at the finish. This is still very backward and has not completely filled out its framework yet. Maybe just a little riper than the perfect balance. Will be the last to be bottled, and has all the component parts to make a great wine.

This is the pinnacle of what Guillaume d'Angerville says is his finest vintage since he began running the estate in 2003. A very structured wine but also light and wafting, like the stiff gold hem of an angel's gown. There are smoke and sous bois notes, truffle, and sweet spicy cinnamon, with wild strawberry, raspberry, green walnut and orange rind. This is a wine that is ripe and yet fresh, with a raspy hint of strawberry leaves that gives a sense of berries just picked and eaten from your hand. The finish is long and unfolding, but the wine has an overall graceful and gliding character. Supremely elegant, captivating and impressive
