An understated Vino Nobile with discreet minerals, spiced plums, cumin and tarry savouriness that needs some time to pull together and open up further. Quite nicely chewy and tight, with a full-bodied palate and a clean, mineral finish. A little demanding now, but shows potential. Try after 2024.

Vino Nobile is produced with selected grapes from vineyards at least 10 years of age that are mainly planted on red, sandy and mineral soils to give the wine a great deal of character and aging potential.
The grapes are hand-picked, de-stemmed and soft-pressed. Indigenous yeast is used in the fermentation process that lasts about a week. The Nobile s aged in Allier or Slavonian oak casks of capacity ranging from 5 to 35 hectoliters, where malolactic fermentation occurs. Maturation takes from 18 to 24 months.
Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is typically taut and structured with classic blueberry and plum fruit, evolving to violets. Boscarelli produce a gorgeous wine that is complex and elegant, with notes of dried herbs, earth and leather framed by firm, well integrated tannins.
