A blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Cinsault and 10% Syrah this wine has all the perfume and fleshy generosity of fully ripe Grenache fruit with freshness and finesse of tannins and that faint hint of provence herbs that makes southern Rhone reds, and Mont-Redon, so popular. Amazing value.
‘Dark red robe, full. The bouquet is well lined with blackberry fruit, has the 2016 vintage inner sweetness, a soaking of the fruits. There’s a note of licorice. The palate carries abundant, rolling, vivid cherry fruiting, really gathers good momentum and finishes splendidly, on an up wave, its tannins well sealed within, a note of black olives and slight tar from them on the aftertaste. This has captured the amazing vivacity of the fruit of the year well. 2027-28 Oct 2018’ drinkhone.com
2016 Côtes du Rhône is a juicy, straight up delicious red that gives up lots of red and black berry fruits, black pepper, violets, and earth in its pure, medium-bodied, beautifully balanced style. It’s made in a fresher, elegant style, yet has plenty of mid-palate depth, and it’s going to evolve for at least 7-8 years. Rating:
