Château Rauzan-Ségla 2017 captures the elegance of Margaux with Second Growth pedigree, refined structure and enduring charm.
This is a powerful, dense wine. Tannins come through strongly as does the dynamic black fruit. Likely to develop slowly, the wine's concentration is impressive. Drink from 2024.
95 points Roger Voss for Wine Enthusiast
This is tight and focused with a super precise palate of blackberries, blackcurrants and hints of flowers. Full body, linear tannins and a long finish.

One of the jewels of the Margaux appellation, Château Rauzan-Ségla has been crafting exceptional Bordeaux since the 17th century and proudly holds Second Growth status in the historic 1855 Classification. Owned by the Chanel group since 1994, the estate has enjoyed a remarkable renaissance, producing wines that beautifully unite Margaux's hallmark perfume and elegance with depth, precision and extraordinary ageing potential.
The 2017 vintage rewarded meticulous vineyard management, producing fruit of exceptional purity, freshness and balance. The estate's deep gravel soils yielded beautifully expressive Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, while careful élevage created a wine of remarkable harmony, structure and refinement that faithfully reflects the estate's distinguished terroir.
Deep garnet with youthful ruby highlights, the bouquet is captivating with aromas of cassis, black cherry and wild blackberry layered with violets, graphite and fine cedar. As the wine opens, notes of cigar box, pencil shavings, truffle and subtle spice emerge, adding complexity and unmistakable Margaux character. The palate is seamless and beautifully proportioned, revealing concentrated dark fruits supported by cashmere fine tannins, vibrant acidity and a finely etched mineral backbone. Long, graceful and effortlessly refined, the finish lingers with floral perfume, savoury spice and exceptional persistence.
A magnificent companion for Chateaubriand, roast lamb, duck breast, venison loin or mature Comté. Already superb with extended decanting, this outstanding Margaux has the pedigree and balance to reward patient collectors for decades.
Cellaring: Drink now to 2050.
