Moss Wood Ribbon Vale Merlot marries plum, dark cherry and cedar with polished tannins, Wilyabrup pedigree and cellar worthy class.
Moderately intense merlot that has an impressive lightness and subtle power with blueberry, cedar, violet and a hint of wood-smoke. A seamless, smooth-textured red with a lengthy finish. Delicious now but with obvious potential.

Full of nervous energy, its plummy fruit on one side and earthy, herbal acidity and freshness on the other. This will be ready when you are.

Ribbon Vale has become one of Australia's benchmark Merlots, proving just how compelling the variety can be in the hands of Moss Wood. Planted in the heart of Wilyabrup and guided by Keith and Clare Mugford, the vineyard consistently produces Merlot of exceptional depth, elegance and longevity, earning a devoted following among lovers of fine Bordeaux inspired wines.
The Ribbon Vale vineyard enjoys the same gravelly loam soils and maritime climate that have made Wilyabrup one of the world's great Cabernet regions. Low yielding vines, meticulous vineyard management and patient oak maturation allow Merlot to develop remarkable concentration while retaining freshness, structure and the hallmark finesse of Margaret River.
The colour is a deep garnet with brick red highlights. Aromas of black plum, dark cherry and mulberry are entwined with cedar, tobacco leaf, cocoa and subtle dried herbs. The palate is beautifully composed, carrying ripe dark fruits across polished tannins and vibrant acidity. Notes of graphite, forest floor and fine spice emerge through a long, seamless finish that reflects the pedigree of this outstanding vineyard.
A magnificent companion to roast duck, slow braised lamb shanks, beef cheek bourguignon, wild mushroom pithivier or aged cloth bound cheddar. Drinking superbly now, this distinguished Merlot will continue to reward careful cellaring for another decade or more.
