Cabernet sauvignon (72%), malbec (18%), petit verdot (6%) and merlot (4%), aged for 12 months in French oak, 25% new. Salt and pepper, blueberry and blackcurrant, cloves and minerally/ferrous characters. This is a seriously good wine. It's characterful, balanced, lengthy and interesting, its dark-berried fruit flavours sunk deep into the palate, its freshness maintained, and its finish as convincing as everything that came before.
96 points Special Value Campbell Mattinson winecompanion.com.au Aug 2024
A 68/17/8/1% blend of cabernet sauvignon, malbec, petit verdot and merlot. Bright, near vivid, crimson; an elegant cabernet-driven wine, with notes of cedar, cigar box and cassis on the bouquet and palate alike. It's medium bodied and lithe, an English gentleman's claret.
This wine is layered and complex with red berry and darker fruit aromas. These characters continue on to the palate, with fruit layers supported by fine oak tannins and lively berry persistence. Bottled without filtration, it is normal for some sediment to form; decanting one to two hours prior to drinking is recommended.
