Perfumed aromas of red cherries, wild strawberries, rose petals, citrus zest, dried thyme, earth and crushed stones. The tightly wound, vibrant palate has bright acidity and fine, silky tannins, giving notes of cranberries, pomegranate, blood oranges and subtle spices. Mineral and precise with elegance and textural length. Drink or hold.

Sourced from Gill Christian and Todd Goebel's vineyard on Brinktop Road in the Coal River Valley. Mid-ruby with aromas of dark cherry and red plum fruits, with some wild strawberry and raspberry top notes. There's flickers of citrus blossom and clover along with hints of medina spice, forest floor, dried cranberry, negroni, dried herbs, char siu and a murmur of toasty oak. There's a depth here, while still retaining a lovely sense of space with taut, powdered riverstone tannins and a sapidity and clarity to its line that stretches the wine's travel on the finish. Very cool drinking. Drink 2025 to 2040.

The 2024 Killara Farm Pinot Noir is darker-fruited than both the Bird and the Seven Inch tasted alongside, and the fruit here is from Brinktop vineyard. MV6, 115 and Pommard clones comprise the cépage of this wine. This is rich and full, with layers of tannin and dark fruit, and the spice register lingers through the finish. It's really good. Drink 2026 to 2036.

Jim Chatto's obsession with Pinot Noir has taken him around the world but it was Tasmania that had the strongest pull. After years of searching, he found his place at Glaziers Bay in the Huon Valley, right on the edge of viticultural possibility. The Isle vineyard planted in 2007 remains the heart of Chatto Wines. A small and carefully chosen family of Tasmanian wines has grown around it, each one a conversation with the variety and the site, driven by an insatiable curiosity for Pinot Noir.
The Coal River Valley sits in Tasmania's driest, warmest corner. It is further from the ocean's moderating influence than most of the island's wine regions, with more sunshine and a longer ripening window. Fruit for the Killara Farm is lovingly grown by Gill Christian and Todd Goebel at their Brinktop Road vineyard, and the 2024 vintage delivered wines of real flesh and depth alongside the detail and precision that define the Chatto house style.
Dark cherry, blackberry and red plum on the nose, with citrus blossom, forest floor and a murmur of spice. The palate has genuine depth and a taut mineral line, with powdered riverstone tannins and a long, sapid finish.
The darkest and most structured of the Chatto grower wines, this wine is built to age. We've only a got few cases available.
