Pale in the glass, almost colourless; fresh, clean and subtle pot-pourri, cucumber, white-pepper armas; the flavour is light and gently fruity with a backing of tannin adding grip and dryness to the finish, where a pepperiness lingers. A very drinkable gris in a dry, appetising style. 09 Sep 2025 Drink 2025–2031
90 points Huon Hooke, The Real Review, September 2025
Yabby Lake Pinot Gris is a balanced and aromatic cool-climate white from Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, capturing the region’s hallmark freshness, texture, and elegance. The Pinot gris is planted in Block 2, a section of the vineyard on sandy clay loam soils, with iron shot stone and light medium clay.
The 2025 season was another cool and late vintage. Low yields produced intense wines with impeccable balance and persistence. The fruit was handpicked on 19 February and whole bunch pressed. The juice was cold settled and wild fermented with 80% in stainless steel and 20% in old French 500L oak puncheons. Bottled in July 2025.
This is a medium bodied, complex and vibrant wine with floral and citrus aromas, and flavours of nashi pear. Enjoy in its youth.
