It's elegant and deep, smooth and stylish with red rather than black fruits; no greenness nor seaweedy regional notes. Good quality oak is very evident, but it's still a baby. Long-term potential. Cellar this!16 APR 2012 Drink 2015–2035
Cape Mentelle has a rich history of exceptional quality and consistency with Cabernet Sauvignon from a pioneering producer in Margaret River in the early 1970's to a benchmark producer today. A single vineyard wine with the style evolving over time, the aim always to define a wine displaying classic varietal character and opulence, strong regional identity and with the structure and fruit intensity to improve with extended cellaring.
2009 is deep crimson; a classic bouquet of redcurrant, blackcurrant, cedar, olive and finely tuned French oak; medium-bodied and certainly no blockbuster, the palate is elegantly textured, silky and fine, building to a real crescendo of flavour; long, elegant and harmonious.

Medium to full red colour, faint purple. Oaky nose: cedar and toasty barrels, savoury and mellow, shading the primary fruit. Oak is the main aroma, but there's raspberry, blackberry and cassis fruit aromas, too. Very youthful and trifle unready. Lovely palate depth and texture/shape, too. It's elegant and deep, smooth and stylish with red rather than black fruits; no greenness nor seaweedy regional notes. Good quality oak is very evident, but it's still a baby. Long-term potential.
