2009 Henschke Cyril Henschke Cabernet Sauvignon, Eden Valley

An 81/13/6% blend of cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and merlot; French oak (40% new). Dark, dense red-purple; classic density and power, blackcurrant, superb cedary tannins, harmonious flavour/texture; just enough savoury/earthy notes.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2009 Cyril Henschke is a single vineyard wine blended of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Cabernet Franc and 6% Merlot that is provocatively scented with lovely and pure cassis, roses and violet aromas accented by some cedar and underlying menthol, pencil lead and some loam. Medium to full-bodied, rich and opulent, with great mid-palate flesh plus medium to high balanced acid, it has a firm level of finely grained tannins and a very long finish. A great Cyril Henschke! Though approachable now, it should drink best 2014 to 2022+.

Deep crimson in colour. Spicy and perfumed aromas of red and black currant, mulberry and cassism with naunces of violet and dried herbs, forest moss and hints of cigar boxand cedar.

Concentrated flavours of black and blue berry fruits, ripe mulberr and black currant are complemented by rich cedar and mocha, while balanced acidity and finely structured tannins provide focus and depth for a beautuful lingering finish.
