2009 Villa al Cortile Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, Tuscany

The 2009 Villa al Cortile Brunello has almost an impenetrable dark red colour. It is made from 100% Sangiovese grapes and has spent 24 months in oak barrels. It is sustained and round with complex notes of licorice and ripe black cherry flavours dominating. Full, ripe, spicy black-skinned fruit is evident on the palate, while the smooth tannins expose great elegance. Lingering chestnutty fruit long aftertaste. This intense wine, is both powerful and classy, and a tremendous value for the investment. Serve it with game or matured cheeses, from now to 2019.
