Mary Kathleen is named after family matriarch, Mary Kathleen Lloyd, one of the founders of Coriole. It is produced from three small, select vineyards on Coriole's estate. The wine was first produced in 1992.
Steel frame of tannin gives this medium to full-bodied wine a touch of the statuesque. It's still building towards its best years. It tastes of blueberry, tobacco, blackcurrant and tar; smoky/coffeed oak contributes smoothness to the texture as much as flavour. It's still resolving itself on the finish; it'll evolve in its own good time.
