The grapes come from vines dating from ?49 through to the last quarter of the 20th century. The wine speaks with clarion purity of its place and variety, with a complex fusion of blackcurrant, dried herbs and earthy tannins before a final burst of fruit on the farewell, French oak never obvious.

Deepish red/brick-red colour, showing some age. The bouquet is beautifully mellow and developed, with dried herb, subtle 'forest floor', mint, raspberry, savoury, earthy developed aromas, with just a hint of chocolate and honeycomb Violet Crumble. It's very soft and mellow in the mouth, the flavours having evolved nicely with age. The tannins are still quite firm on the middle and finish. A very good drink now starting to show some maturity.13 NOV 2015 Drink 2017–2035
