Tahbilk has the longest history of continuously growing marsanne in Australia, and not so long ago of having the largest single-vineyard plantings in the world. The screwcap has been as big a blessing for marsanne as for semillon and riesling, allowing the wine to lazily unfurl its wings over decades. Pale straw-green, it has some definite hints of honeysuckle on the bouquet, and the palate is full of promise. It will pass through distinct stages over the next 20+ years, with 5-, 10- and 20-year peaks.
