Concentrated deep plum colour. Rich, complex aromas of dark berries and blackcurrant interspersed with layers of roast coffee beans, bittersweet chocolate, and complex cedary oak accented with gentle hints of Langhorne Creek eucalypt and a touch of cigar-box development.
The palate shows exceptional richness, complexity and balance with spicy dark fruit reminiscent of blackberry, blackcurrant and blood-plum, with integrated, layered oak flavours. At once opulent and elegant, with a persistence of flavour, seamless texture and firm, velvety tannins.
A 51/49% blend (no malbec) with 51% Barossa Valley, 32% Langhorne Creek and 17% McLaren Vale that spent 22 months in 61% new French, 19% new American, and 20% 1yo French oak. It is exceptionally fresh, the secret its very high (for red wine) 8 g/l of acidity and low pH (3.34). I believe it passes the test of balance (the alcohol of 15% is needed given the acid level) which means it will live for many decades under its screwcap. All the expected flavours of blackberry, blackcurrant, plum, bitter chocolate and cedar are there in abundance.

Excellent deep red/purple colour, bright and fresh for its age. The bouquet is deep and ripe and somewhat restrained, quiet, but all in good order, while the palate is concentrated and dense, loaded with soft ripe tannins and oak neatly tucked away in the background. A delicious, statuesque and impressive cabernet blend which has a great future ahead of it. Outstanding.10 OCT 2014 Drink 2017–2054
