2012 Alan McCorkindale Legend Terrace Pinot Noir, Central Otago

’Single Vineyard’ Pinot Noir hand harvested from the clay and schist slopes of the ‘Legend Terrace’ vineyard on Felton Road in Central Otago, New Zealand. This low yielding vineyard is planted over historic nineteenth century goldmines, with old mine shafts criss-crossing the site.

The 2012 vintage was defined by low yields, high sunshine hours and frequent cool southerly winds. Extended maceration, hand plunging, small batches, fifteen months ageing in barrels, bottled unfined and unfiltered, hand labelled, with no compromise on quality. Bright, carmine colour, with aromas of blackberry, red cherry and raspberry, with hints of mossy wood. The vibrant fruit flavours skip over a focussed, concentrated palate with lifted spice and floral notes.
