The Elvio Cogno winery sits on the top of Bricco Ravera, a hill near Novello in the Langhe area of Piedmont, one of the eleven communes in which Barolo is produced. The cellar is housed in an 18th-century manor farm surrounded by 11 hectares of land, all occupied by vineyards.
The Cogno family has been making wine in the Langhe area for four generations: the values of history and tradition handed down by father Elvio are enhanced by the freshness and innovation introduced by his daughter Nadia and her husband Valter Fissore.
The wine is ruby-red in color with light garnet highlights. Great finesse on the nose, harmonious and complex. Sensations of ripe red fruit, such as redcurrant and red cherry — typical of Nebbiolo — with spicy undertones. Enveloping tannins, great elegance and persistence on the palate.

The 2012 Barbaresco Bordini shows thin lines and an upfront personality. This is a bright and feminine expression with a pretty bouquet of blue flowers, wild berries, dried blueberries and blanched almond. This wine was first produced in 2006 and is one of the newest editions to the Elvio Cogno portfolio. It shows a delicate and elegant approach with silky tannins and cheerful freshness.
