Oak has been reined in over the years though its presence is still no doubt felt; as a positive. Fruit intensity is not an issue here but it's surprising how elegantly this presents, with blackberries, violets and black cherries pouring through the palate, sweeping trails of firm, grainy tannin along for the ride. It needs time to mellow but the ingredients are no doubt here.
