2012 Geoff Merrill Jacko's Blend Shiraz, McLaren Vale

If there is a better 2012 shiraz for under $25, we would like to see it.

Jacko’s Blend is deep red with youthful purple hues. The aroma shows typical McLaren Vale licorice, ripe berry fruits with savoury wood smoke and a touch of spice. The palate has firm tannin and acid structure with blackberry, leather, white pepper and anise, showing nice complexity, well integrated subtle oak and finishing clean, fruity and dry.

Winemaker’s notes:

The colour is a deep blood red with purple hues and great depth. The aroma shows white pepper, spices, menthol, black olive, savoury smoked meats and a hint of leather. The palate is smooth and full, with dark fruits of black currant and mulberry integrating well with creamy oak. Drink now or put it away for a few more years. Will go well with a nice steak, lamb casserole, bbq, pizza and cheese.

Matured for 24 months in American oak (20% new). A deliciously fresh and vibrant wine underlining just how great the '12 vintage was. Multifaceted red and black berry fruits are juicy, yet have ample texture and structure. This will continue to cruise along for another decade at least. $28/14.5%/2027.
