Pale gold colour with honeydew melon and zesty minerality on the nose. These aromatics are typical of the Galician varietal Godello – relatively unknown outside the DO region of Valdeorras, North West Spain but certainly having impact at wine shows around the world. The flavour profile is full bodied with ripe citrus, blood orange and touches of honey. A firm acid structure holds these flavours across the palate to finish long and lingering. Perfect with stir fried chicken or roast pork belly and Chinese greens as it cleanses the palate beautifully as well as maintaining flavours. Also, a story for the table…
According to The World Ranking Wines (WRW) of the World Association of Writers and Journalists of Wine and Spirits (WAWWJ), 2013 Bioca Godello is the best white wine in 2015 and is holding the 5th position in the top 100 ranking of wines worldwide. Plus, it received a Trophy and the Blue Gold Trophy at the 2015 Sydney International Wine Competition paired with scallops.
