The 2013 Chambolle-Musigny les Sentiers 1er Cru was tight-lipped on the nose when I tasted it at the domaine. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, quite rigid tannins. There is decent, broody, dark berry fruit here, although the finish seems a little serious at the moment. That said, there is a pleasant dash of spice on the aftertaste – this will be interesting to revisit after bottling. Drink now-2026.

An airy, elegant and pure nose displays a mix of mostly red berry fruit scents where there is also plenty of floral character along with hints of earth, spice and smoke. Here too there is excellent volume to the sleekly muscular and more mineral-inflected middle weight flavors that possess a dusty mouth feel on the palate coating, balanced and beautifully persistent finish. This is powerful if not quite as powerful and I like the balance. Drink 2023+.
