Coonawarra has remained the primary source of Shiraz fruit for Bin 128 since the inaugural release of the 1962 vintage.
2013 delivered an impressive Coonawarra vintage that achieved optimal sugar/acid balance and phenolic ripeness for Shiraz. The overall fruit quality is excellent, comparable to the much lauded 2010 and 2012 vintages. Peak drinking Now – 2025
An impressive aromatic and tasting disposition reflective of a confident Coonawarra Bin 128, in a year not compromised by climatic extremes.” Peter Gago Penfolds Chief Winemaker
This is one of the richest, most dense Bin 128s I can recollect, its long-term future assured - just remember the Woodley Treasure Chest series or Wynns Shiraz from the '50s and '60s. Velvety black fruits are magically captured in a rich, round mouthfilling burst of flavour.
