From a single vineyard in Karridale, hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed direct to new French oak, wild-fermented, matured for 10 months, no racking or batonnage, 6 barrels made. This is an exceptional wine, showing that doing less can be the hardest. References to Burgundy irritate some, so I tend to stay away unless I feel strongly, as I do here. This is Australia's answer to Montrachet, and a convincing one at that. This is going up to the house.

Full buttercup-yellow colour, with a mellow and very complex bouquet of toasted bread, butter, nuts and honey, with a dominant roasted hazelnut nuance. It's quite strongly oaked. The palate is savoury and dry, rich and deep, with totally satisfying depth, length and balance. Semi-mature and drinking well now.18 MAY 2018 Drink 2018–2023
