Blackberry, licorice and cherry notes dominate the nose.Rich & velvety the palate continues in the same vein with tannins structure robust enough to balance the richfruit.
The grapes for the Frux come from the Old Ulithorne Vineyard where the soil is rocky clay loam over limestone. This vineyard is located in the sub-region of ‘Seaview’ on the northern side of the Onkaparinga River National Park. The vineyard always results in star anise and ripe plums but as suggested above this is all about elegance and finesse. Deft touch with 20% new oak and the
balance old oak hasn’t masked the high quality fruit in this wine. The total production was 247 dozen and each of the bottles are individually numbered and waxed by hand.
‘Saturated deep red/purple colour. The bouquet is very ripe and appealing, with sweet blackberry to black cherry nuances, these flavours translating faithfully onto the very full-bodied palate. A powerful, deep-flavoured wine, with excellent structure and generous tannins. It has great balance in spite of its bigness. A luxurious wine.’
