2014 Capel Vale Whispering Hills Shiraz

Capel Vale has been making distinctive elegant wines from the cool regions of Western Australia since 1974. The Single Vineyard Series Whispering Hills is a superb example of Mount Barker Shiraz showing intense aromas of pepper, red berries and spice. The palate is rich and full of sweet fruit with fine grained, firm tannins. This powerful, elegant and complex wine will develop in complexity with 5 years of careful cellaring. A top example of the synergy between Mount Barker and shiraz; go to the Rhone Valley to find a shiraz of similar style and quality, but count yourself lucky if you only have to pay double. Black fruits, licorice, cracked pepper, all the usual building blocks, except that these are gold-plated.
