2014 G. D. Vajra Langhe Nebbiolo DOC, Piedmont

90 pts - Antonio Galloni The 2014 Langhe Nebbiolo is a beautiful example of the vintage. A dark, inviting wine, the 2014 possesses striking aromatics, expressive fruit and a classic, mid-weight feel. Sweet red cherry, plum, spices and licorice inflections add the closing shades of nuance. The Nebbiolo is a blend of mostly fruit from Sinio, which is just outside the Barolo appellation, in a spot where some growers sourced fruit for their Barolos in the days when there was less regulation. Young vine fruit from both Bricco delle Viole and Ravera rounds out the blend. Last tasted Dec 2015; Drink now-2021.
