Russian River Valley is a cool appellation where grapes spend more time on the vine allowing a deeper, more dramatic spectrum of flavours and aromas to develop, thus creating decidedly richer and more layered wines. The 2014 La Crema (meaning ‘the best of’) displays primary aromas of lemon, nectarine and jasmine followed by flavours of yellow plum, white pear, tangerine and toasted hazelnut. Richly textured, velvety and concentrated with balanced acidity and subtle oak it is medium-bodied with good texture and finish. If you haven’t had an American chardonnay this is a great introduction that won’t break the bank. Drink it over next couple of years.
