Universally regarded as one of Coonawarra's greatest wines, it continues to win trophies and medals throughout Australia and the world. After malolactic fermentation the wine was aged for a further 18 months in oak before bottling.
The resultant wine is dark magenta in colour, with bright ruby hue. Cherry and blackberry fruits with a hint of dark choc mint on the nose. The palate is complex, with rich plum, blackberries and cassis flavours, well balanced tannins and fine oak with a long finish. Fruit, oak and tannin concentration will reward your patience.
Drink now or wait 10 - 15 years.
95 points – James Halliday
The hue is good, although not particularly deep; conclusion of fermentation in barrel integrates the oak better than can be achieved any other way - viz Grange. This is a lovely fruit-sweet (not sugar-sweet) and juicy cassis-laden cabernet ready for immediate drinking - or cellaring for up to 20 years. $37/14.5%/2034
