The fruit for this wine comes from a very well situated, 0.6-hectare parcel on a northeast-facing hillside just south of Chassagne. The vines here are now 20 years old. The grapes are handpicked, pressed, left to settle and then naturally fermented on lees for 12 months in small stainless steel vats, as well as some mostly older barrels (there is a tiny percentage of new wood). 2014's low yields, early harvesting and Pillot's minimalist winemaking combine here to produce an excellent value Bourgogne Blanc. The aromatics suggest orchard fruit and brown spices, while the palate is a mouth-filling wave of textured fruit with ripe citrus, white flowers and nectarine notes and then good, chalky freshness to close.
Punches above its weight for the price, with fresh fruit and lovely leesy grip on the palate. "
