Very deep, concentrated purple/red colour and a very dense, latent, reserved bouquet which is filled with typical Penfolds savouriness, not necessarily oak character but coconut, chocolate, spices and black fruits. The hamlet of Marananga lies very close to the centre of the Barossa Valley floor – slightly to the north and west, where warm dry conditions and rich red soils provide the backbone to some of the region’s best known wines. A relatively recent arrival into the Penfolds Bin range, and has been a success from the outset. A dense and rich full-bodied shiraz, with a phalanx of purple and black fruits framed by 14 months maturation in French and American oak. Ripe tannins put the seal on the future of a long-lived wine.
