Note: this limited two barrel cuvée is crafted from 70+ year old vines that abut the Musigny climat which is also called La Combe d'Orveau and is a monopole of Domaine Jacques Prieur; it is not produced every vintage as it is only made from shot berries, known as millerandage.
Red berry liqueur-like aromas are liberally laced with a variety of spice and floral nuances. The impressively concentrated and opulent full-bodied flavours possess exceptionally good richness and volume while exhibiting beautiful depth on the beautifully lingering finish. The interplay of fruit, acidity and structureis evident here and this is a wine that should be approachable young but age well too. Drink: 2024+
‘Deep, unevolved aromas of dark fruits, licorice, flowers, menthol and spearmint oil. Densely packed and powerful, showing terrific energy and minty lift to the flavors of dark raspberry and menthol complicated by smoky soil tones. Boasts grand cru dimension for the year, finishing with big but thoroughly ripe tannins and terrific mineral thrust and grip. The wine's energy, structure and medicinal reserve suggest it will age very slowly.’ 91-94 Points Stephen Tanzer Vinous.com Jan 2016
