Barossa Valley's Purple Hands started up in 2006 when two mates, Craig Stansborough and Mark Slade, made their first vintage. Just over a tonne of hand-picked Shiraz was crushed making 100 dozen wines.

Due to the lower temperatures at the 'cooler' end of the Valley the ripening periods are longer and the grapes more flavoursome.

Purple Hands has been awarded 95/100 for its Shiraz regularly placing them in the top 10% of wineries in the Australian Wine Companion.Year 2014 saw Craig Stansborough awarded Barossa Winemaker of the year by the Barons of Barossa.

2014 Purple Hands Shiraz is purple red colour with great depth.  Dense nose that shows an array of aromas, plum, dark chocolate, fennel, cedar with the new French oak giving a hint of vanilla. Sweet Shiraz fruit surrounds a firm tannin backbone that starts early and just keeps going, this adds a morish element that is enticing.  This is seriously a great food wine. Drink now or cellar carefully and enjoy over the next 15 years.
Firm hands of tannin deliver dark berried flavours in pristine, perfectly ripened condition. There's definition to the muscle; there's juice racing beneath the skin. You can't help but be impressed. rrp $30, drink by 2030.
