Rich with dried cherries and grapefruit juice which give soul to the primary scene in a brilliant and dynamic way. The scents of mandarin rind, lime trees and crushed rock give the hoped for complexity in the background. Full bodied, tannins which are incredibly silky on the palate are blended into the matrix and confirm the skills of one of the most stable producers in Montalcino. Drink now or age.

This stunning red exudes bright cherry, blackberry, plum, iron and tobacco aromas and flavors, all knit together almost seamlessly, with vibrant acidity and refined tannins. Shows a combination of power and grace, with a long fruit and savory aftertaste.

Showing richness, dark fruit, bold cherry and blackberry, the Castello Romitorio 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva (with exactly 7,456 bottles made) embraces the exuberant character of the vintage, its warmth and its sunshine. If you seek a time capsule of 2015, I suggest that you put this bottle somewhere safe. The tannins are polished and chiseled, and at its core the wine is overflowing with blackberry preserves, cherry confit and plum.
Castello Romitorio planted a new two-hectare vineyard in 2020 that will be named "Castello." The estate vines are entering their prime production years, and we can expect more great results from this estate in the future. The vineyards are located in the northwest of the appellation and are up to 25 years old in age, planted in schistous Galestro soils with lots of rocks and pebbles at 350 to 450 meters in altitude.

A rigorous selection of grapes is made from the estate’s eldest vineyards located in the northern zone of Montalcino. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with an initial short period of cold maceration (below 20°C) on the skins for about 15-20 hours. This is followed by up to 24 days of maceration at a higher controlled temperature. Malolactic fermentation that is naturally caused then lasts for about 10 days, before the wine is rested to separate the lees. The wine matures in oak for approximately 36 months, and, after bottling, the wine is aged in Castello Romitorio’s temperature-controlled cellars until release.
