This label has been moving by degrees to an ever-more elegant and subtle style. '15 was a fine vintage, and perhaps one step closer to the ideal. Primarily fruit driven, with cool-grown aromas and flavours of citrus, white peach and melon; the oak adds a dash of spice and clearly contributes to the texture and form.
95 points James Halliday 2016 Chardonnay Challenge winecompanion.com.au
Has Steve Webber made a perfect chardonnay?
A terrific mild season produced grapes with balance of flavour, texture and good natural acidity. 2015 is light straw with a green edge. The bouquet is bright, complex showing hints of citrus, hazelnut and subtle oak. Dry and medium-bodied the palate is fine, minerally, textural, with drying phenolics and creaminess. Great with John Dory fries and lemon.
