Rich, concentrated pinot noir with ripe plum, black cherry, licorice, spice, anise and nutty oak flavours. A powerful wine that's a pleasure to taste now but has the potential to develop well in bottle. Tasted 10/10/2017

Dog Point vineyards are certified organic under the BioGro New Zealand Programme which is an independent certification process established to promote environmentally friendly, sustainable and responsible practices. These organic philosophies drive approach to wine making and help ensure the vines are at their best for next year's harvest. A specialist Marlborough wine producer since 2002. Dog Point insists on low cropped vines and hand-picked fruit whilst adhering to an organic regime. Their philosophy is to produce regionally distinctive wines that will drink well now and age gracefully for many years.

After working together at Cloudy Bay and finding they shared the same aspirations, James Healy and Ivan Sutherland decided to return to a more 'hands-on' approach to winemaking. Using fruit from the 80 hectare Dog Point Vineyard established by Ivan and Margaret, the pair launched the Dog Point label together with wives Wendy and Margaret in February 2004 using fruit from the 2002 vintage.Dog Point Pinot Noir is today one of the icons of Marlborough and for good reason. Ivan and James are maestro’s at producing superb pinot noir and 2015 vintage wine is no exception.

Hand-picked, 85% destemmed and 15% whole bunched, matured 18 months in French oak barrels (40% new) this is one of the best wines to come from Dog Point stable.Dark red berry and cherry fruits blend seamlessly with dark herbs, earthiness, raspberry liqueur and licorice elements, all wrapped up a fine-grained tannin and refined structural bow. Pairs exquisitely with all the classic pinot matches like duck and other game birds, red meats and mushroom dishes.
