2015 Domaine Jean-Marc Pavelot Aloxe-Corton, Cote de Beaune, a less complex, but drinking beautifully. Ripe, cherry with a twist of strawberry fills the front of the palate. The palate become more rounded with toasty oak and sweet spicy undertones, that flow into a silky slightly saline like finish. Peking duck pancakes, where are you?
'The 2015 Aloxe-Corton Village comes from a single parcel (unlike the Savigny-les-Beaune Village), specifically from Les Cras.
from grapes on deep soil in the lieu-dit Les Cras, picked at 12.7% potential alcohol on September 2): Full dark red. Slightly diffuse aromas of black cherry and licorice. At once juicy and pliant, offering good texture to its sweet, dark flavors of blackberry, cassis and licorice. Not a fat style but more yielding than usual for this cuvée. This parcel has a tendency to rot, said Pavelot, but not in 2015.
